Monika Preszly
Manager of the German Cancer Information Service (KID) in the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum).
Ms. Preszly's background is in psychology and education. She has been engaged in cancer information and communication since 1984 and contributed to the setting-up and development of KID. Her responsibilities as manager of this nationwide service for the public include cooperation with national and international partners, organizational and project development, quality assurance, accompanying research.
She organized the first conference of European helplines/cancer information services in 1987 and has been actively involved in the development of the European and international network of cancer information services since then. She is member of the Steering Committee of the "European Group for Cancer Information and Support" and member of the Board of the "International Cancer Information Services Group".
She is co-author of the book "Krebs-Fragen und Antworten" (Cancer-Questions and Answers), Springer, Heidelberg 1993 and 1996 - 3rd edition is under way - and author of various articles on the subject.
