The International Cancer Information Service Group (ICISG) Board held its annual business meeting 2002 during the UICC International Cancer Congress conference in July in Oslo. Eleven of the twelve board members were able to attend to complete the following business on behalf of the ICISG. The minutes from the ICISG Board meeting are available on this website. The conference was a valuable opportunity to meet colleagues from the UICC COPES programme and attend presentations from those around the globe.

The ICISG met with the new UICC strategic leader Robert Burton and UICC staff member Natalie Stahelin who are responsible for taking forward the UICC's strategic direction of Capacity Building which includes Patient Information Services. ICISG Board members also met the new UICC international Liaison Officer - Nancy Lins who is working with John Seffrin (American Cancer Society, CEO), the UICC's new President. Board members also welcomed a presentation from ICISG member Emily Pualwan about their American Cancer Society CIS.

Several Board members visited the Norwegian Cancer Society Information Service and shared experiences with people wanting to set up services in India, Venezuela and those being established in Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, as well as other established services in Finland, Denmark, Germany, USA, Canada and UK.

We will be working together to develop quality cancer information services and patient information resources with countries around the world.
