How to start and manage a CIS – UICC World Cancer Congress 2008
The ICISG is offering a pre-congress workshop on August 27, 2008, from 9am – 5pm. The workshop is for those who are starting a cancer information service or who want to enhance their existing CIS. Attendance is limited to 50 participants.

COURSE OUTLINE
Using presentations, case studies and discussions, the topics of the workshop will include:

Morning session – For all participants

1. What is a Cancer Information Service (CIS)
2. Demonstration of the CIS Toolbox
3. Case study of CIS started with the help of ICISG

Basic level (for organizations planning to start a CIS) - Afternoon concurrent

1. Needs assessment for readiness to start a CIS
2. Sample call and call management issues
3. Recruitment and basic training

Advanced level (for organizations currently operating a CIS) - Afternoon concurrent

1. Staffing issues
2. Quality assurance and evaluation
3. Cancer information content and resources
4. Management of a CIS
