WHAT IS A CANCER INFORMATION SERVICE (CIS)?

A Cancer Information Service provides accurate and up-to-date information about cancer and cancer control to cancer patients, their family and friends, healthcare professional and the general public. This ensures a high quality personalized interaction by telephone, email, instant messaging or in-person visit. The service is free and confidential.

ICISG member organizations follow minimum standards and have operating guidelines.

If you are considering starting a CIS, go to assessment tool to help you conduct a basic assessment of the needs and proposed structure.
